About the works
The beauty, struggle, and even the ugly components of early formative family relationships permeate my work. This area of investigation provides a thoughtful and cathartic journey as I work. I ruminate while painting and move toward a solution regarding the physical process of creating a recognizable object within a humorous, haunted, or surreal setting and wrestle with difficult memories. This contemplation helps me find a resolution regarding my tempestuous relationship with childhood family members. The entire painting, or creation process, is cathartic intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually.
